Hello new and seasoned Honors students, friends of the Program, and esteemed scholars... We are thrilled to have you participating in the Fall 2012 UVU Honors Program! The Honors Program would like you to please reserve 2:30-6:00 pm on Thursday, August 23 for the new Honors Student Orientation. While all friends of the Program are invited to participate, this is a required event for all new Honors Students. Please arrive at South Fork (above Vivian Park in Provo Canyon) no later than 3:30 pm. If you need a ride or would like to carpool, we will meet outside the UVU Liberal Arts Building next to parking lot L4 at 2:30 pm. You may reply to this email or contact Tiffany Nez at tiffany.nez@uvu.edu (801.863.6223) with any additional questions. Thank you, and we look forward to seeing all of you on August 23. Concerning the Risk Management Form each of you have been asked to sign, please bring the signed document with you to the New Honors Student Orientation on August 23 or have it sent to the Honors Program office prior to the event. If you are under 18 as of August 23, 2012, a parent's signature is also required. You may submit it via: mail, fax, email (scanned), or by hand to the Honors Program. Honors students often travel off campus to various events and activities and our students' safety is of the utmost importance. Students without a signed form will not be allowed to participate in any of the Honors Program's off-campus events, many of which are required for the Honors Colloquium class.

Honors Students: Please mark your calendars for TWO EVENTS! First, the Honors Program has teamed with the Office of the President and the Theatre Arts Department for a panel discussion on OTHELLO, Tuesday 27 September, 2:30 - 3:45 pm in the Library Timpview room. Click here for a larger version of the poster we're using to advertise the event. Panelists include: President Matthew S. Holland, UVU; Andrew Cutrofello, Loyola University; Baron Kelly, Chapman University; and Kate McPherson, UVU. The panel will be moderated by James W. Arrington, UVU. This is an extraordinary opportunity and I would encourage all of you to please attend.

Second, for those of you currently enrolled in Honors Colloquium, you are required to attend the campus production of OTHELLO 21-24 September (Wednesday through Saturday) in the Student Center Courtyard. I've listed your names and the day you signed up to attend below. Students will meet in the Honors Lounge (LC 203) each night at 5:00 pm and walk to performances together. Performances will begin at 5:30 so please arrive on time.
