Hello new and seasoned Honors students, friends of the Program, and esteemed scholars... Welcome to the Spring 2012 semester at Utah Valley University. It not only outlines the requirements of the class but also the grading policies and and a complete calendar of events. The Honors Program at Utah Valley University provides opportunities for students to realize academic, professional, and human potential. Open to highly motivated students pursuing any associate or baccalaureate degree, Honors offers small courses with outstanding faculty featuring innovative classroom approaches, experiential learning, cultural events, and unique social gatherings.

Students from all majors may pursue an Honors degree. Through Honors, each student can chart a customized program of study most suited to their post-baccalaureate plans.

application process

Applying is easy. Simply click on the image below to download a PDF of the Honors Program Application Form and follow the submission details listed on the form itself.

Complete sections A–D of the Honors Program Application Form and mail it to:

Each mailed application should include:

1. A completed Honors Program Application form.
2. A 400-word essay in response to one of the four admission topics listed in section C.
3. A 400-word essay in response to the Honors Housing topic listed in section D (if applicable).
4. High School and/or College Transcripts (if applicable).

Incomplete applications will not be accepted. Only students admitted to the Honors Program are eligible for Honors Housing. Utah Valley University maintains a contract with Ventana Student Housing and pays two thirds monthly rent for each four-bedroom Honors suite. Honors students live with each other and each pay the remaining third of the rent, currently approximately $115 each month.

Program Requirements

The Honors Program at Utah Valley University has two entry points: Freshman-Entry (students having earned fewer than 60 credits) and Junior-Entry (students having earned 60 credits or more). Please see the Honors Requirements below.

To receive distinction as an Honors Graduate, entering Freshmen admitted to Honors should complete a total of 21 lower-division Honors credits in their first two years. Depending on the degree program, students should then complete between 12 and 18 upper-division Honors credits and an Honors Thesis or Project prior to graduation. Transfer and Continuing students admitted to the program (having earned 60 credits or more) should meet with the Faculty Director to determine exact course of study. All Honors students are required to maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.40.
